As I draw closer to my retirement I wonder what my legacy will be for the Kingdom of God. What affects will my actions have on future generations?
In 1946 a group of pastors in small churches in this Network, though they had very little money, decided to buy property and build a camp. They personally cut timber, built cabins and worked week after week, year after year, bringing people with them, so that future generations had a place to get away and experience God in a special way. This camp is now known as Spencer Lake Christian Center.
Since then, hundreds of thousands of people have attended camps at SLCC. Hundreds have been healed, saved, called into ministry and filled with the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Our forefathers had a vision, and now look at the legacy they have left!
This year, instead of one particular workday at Spencer Lake Christian Center, we have set a range of flexible dates. I am asking individuals and churches to bring a team of workers any time from March to the middle of May. You pick the date that works for you, either during the week or on a weekend. Spencer Lake will provide your food, lodging, equipment, and supplies. We can use men and women. Some of the projects that need to be done are:
Please contact Mollie at Spencer Lake (715-258-5707 or firstname.lastname@example.org) to let her know when you would like to come. You can also choose your preferred projects. You might call it a special church or friends outing and bring a whole group of people to enjoy some great fun and fellowship while working together.
Let’s continue the legacy and keep Spencer Lake Christian Center the premier campground in the Assemblies of God. Start planning for this today!
May God bless you!
